CERAMICS

Ceramics is a unique art form because many of the pieces ceramic artists create are functional. In the process of making a piece, the artist has to consider how it will be used and what parts of the human body will be in contact with it for optimal satisfaction. In this way, ceramics has helped me understand and integrate the visual appeal of a design with its function and how it will be used. Not only does this integration make for beautiful ceramic pieces, but has allowed me, as an engineer and designer to better comprehend this delicate line between form and function and play with it to my advantage when both creating ceramic pieces and engineering human-centered products.
